Installing AeroFlight Compliance Software from the Internet |
Before installing the Compliance Software, make sure you are connected to the Internet. If you use a proxy server, you should also make sure that it allows outbound connections to TCP Port 1218 which is allocated to AeroFlight Tech Data by the IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) for this purpose.
Step 1: Click here to access the Install program.
Note: If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer and you have certain settings active, you may be able to run the Install program directly. Otherwise, you will need to save it to the disk drive first. So if the Install program starts after clicking on the line above, skip to step 4.
Step 2: If you cannot run the program directly, you should see some form of "Save As..." dialog box. For example:
Remember where the file is being saved and then press the "Save" button.
Step 3: After the Install.exe program is saved on your computer, start "My Computer" and find the same place that Install.exe was saved. For example:
|
Step 4: You should now see the initial installation screen:
| Different buttons along the bottom of each screen are highlighted depending on the
screen and the current status of your selections. When the Cancel button is available, you may press it to stop the installation. When the <Prev button is available, you may press it to go back to the previous screen. When the Next> button is available, you may press it to continue to the next screen |
After reading the screen page, press the Next> button to continue to the next screen.
Step 5: Because the Install program is used for installing the Compliance software from the internet and from the CD-ROM, it is necessary to determine which type of installation you are performing. You should see the following screen:
Select the "Install From Internet" option and press the Next> button.
Step 6: Since you are installing the software from the AeroFlight Compliance Server on the Internet, the program needs to know your user name and password so it can log on and retrieve the information. So, you should see the following screen:
Fill in your user name and your password and press Next>. Note that as you enter the user name, "*" characters are displayed instead of the actual password. The user name and password are saved so that when upgrading the software later to take advantage of additional functionality, you will not need to enter them every time.
Step 7: The next screen is used to select the AeroFlight Compliance Server or another Compliance Server from which to install the software. The alternate server name is used in case a company wishes to operate their own AeroFlight Compliance Server. In this case, you would uncheck the "Use Standard AeroFlight Server" selection and enter the name of your own server in the Server Name box.
In nearly all cases, you should leave the "Use Standard AeroFlight Server" checked and press the "Next>" button.
Step 8: At this point, the installation program will attempt to log into the AeroFlight Compliance Server or an alternate server. The results of the attempt are displayed next.
If you see the message, "Logged into Compliance Server, then the user name and password are correct. Press the "Next>" button to continue to the next screen. If you need to change the information you entered, you may press the "<Back" button to select the server in Step 7 or to change your user name or password in Step 6.
There is some slight possibility that you may have been able to login to the Compliance Server, but the "Next>" button is unavailable. In this case, there is a problem with accessing the files on the server necessary to install the software. If so, you may wish to wait a few minutes and try again. Or you can call AeroFlight Tech Data to inform us that we appear to be having a problem of some kind.
Step 9: You now need to tell the installation program where to install the files.
By default, your operating system drive (usually drive C:) will be selected and the main directory name will be "AeroFlight". Press the "Next>" button to continue to the next screen.
Step 10: The next screen is used to display the current version of the Compliance software on your system and the new version that is available for download from the AeroFlight Compliance Server.
The first time you install the software, the fields for the Current Version will be blank.
If both versions are the same, you do not need to proceed with the installation. In that case, just press "Cancel". Otherwise, press "Next>".
Step 11: At this time, you are ready to install the software.
Press the "Install" button to install the software now.

Depending on your internet connection, this may take a while. While the installation proceeds, you can see what it is currently doing by watching the log screen.
When complete, the "Next>" button will be enabled.
If the installation completed okay, the following screen is displayed. Press Okay to exit from the program.
If the installation failed, this screen is displayed.
If you get this screen, please contact AeroFlight Tech for assistance.
